ROBERT CUMMING

Robert Cumming is a triple threat— painter, sculptor, and photographer. Born in Worcester, Massachusetts in 1943, Cumming currently lives in Whately, Massachusetts. Cumming received his MFA in Painting from Massachusetts College of Art, Boston, and his MFA in Painting from the University of Illinois, Champaign. He has received three National Endowment for the Arts Grants, and a John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship. He has had solo exhibitions at the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; The Hirschorn Museum, Washington, DC; the Museum of Modern Art, New York. His work is in the collections of most American museums. His exhibition which accompanies his most recent monograph The Difficulties of Nonsense, was exhibited in  2018 at the Eastman Museum, Rochester. It is scheduled to be shown in California in fall 2019.
