A wonderful array of photographs of New York by gallery artists: Tina Barney, Fred Cray, Jim Dow, Macduff Everton, Lee Friedlander, Ray Mortenson, Martin Parr, John Pfahl, Larry Sultan, Neil Winokur

Michael Collins’s new series illustrates the rich topography of London in a profoundly detailed manner. Taken from a “bird’s eye view”, these images provide an unfamiliar view of a familiar city. The outstanding overall image presented to the viewer is composed of intricate details of the city. A red double-decker bus along the London road becomes as important as the historic buildings of Parliament. Collins utilizes traditional photographic practices along with new technological methods of printing and scanning to obtain pictures of such grandeur.
London based artist, Michael Collins has received four British Arts Council Grants. His book Record Pictures was published by SteidlMack Press in 2004. London Cityscapes was first shown at City Hall in London earlier this year. This is the first exhibition in the United States of this new body work by Collins. An accompanying catalog will be available.

A vast selection of Winokur’s groundbreaking 1980s portraits will be shown. Notables from the art world, including Andy Warhol, Cindy Sherman, and Henry Geldzahler, share the walls with denizens from downtown. Winokur’s signature color and straightforward pose.

All new work. Friedlander’s idea of a still life is very different from the traditional notion; these are wonderful takes on the genre.
